In June we timed Montys Revenge in Whakatane for the second time, the first being last year. Montys Revenge is a multisport race based on Whakatane, running two events - a multisport race and a duathlon race. For us the day starts with registration at 7am taking in late entries before race start at 9am. Timing the event itself is challenging with the races having different splits meaning we take a number of different ways to ensure we capture all the times for the competitors. Where possible we like to time 'live' meaning have the timing equipment connected to the server laptop. However, this is sometimes not possible meaning we need to have a 'remote' point which captures all the times, not being connected at all. With the software we use it is easy to bring these points back and ensure they are assigned to the correct races and the correct split. Also, when called for we then have live remote points, which allows us to bring timing points back over the internet. We didnt utilise this for Montys Revenge but we were able to produce full results for the race director for prize giving as soon as the last competitor crossed the finish line and upload full race results to the Active Timing results portal.
