In real life I work behind the fence at Scion as a Forest Pathologist and pretend to be smart. But whenever I can, I work at sporting events. I've been working in the sport industry since my time as a student and been involved in event organisation for over 8 years, including event timing for 5 years now. Events I've worked on range from the Great Race (Rowing), UCI Trials World Cup to Triathlons, Duathlons and MTB races. I have been part of the NDuro Events team for several years and look after the timing and registration process. I am also an active figure in the Rotorua Triathlon Club (RATs) – currently I am the boss and try to keep them under control and spend all the money on fun things. Aside from organising stuff and drinking coffee at Zippy's I actually also enjoy being out there competing and riding my bikes, swimming the lakes and running the glorious trails we've got in the Rotorua Wonderland!

As I do a spot of work for Active Timing from time to time, Marcus has asked me to put together a short personal biography of myself.  I hold a Bachelor in Physical Education from Otago University – specialising in my last year in sports coaching and sports management.   I spent 14 years racing multisport at an elite level and now find myself working on those events I used to race in!  It does give me a unique insight into how the race works from an athlete's perspective which definitely helps us on race day.  I also now have a coaching business - Multisport Coaching Services Limited, and an events management business - ‘Dare 2 Sweat Events’.  Living a stone’s throw from the Redwoods Forest in Rotorua, married and with a young daughter - I continue to keep fit in and work hard within my chosen fields of expertise.
